The Board of Directors of the Milton Chamber of Commerce voted in 2005 to end its affiliation with South Shore Chamber of Commerce.

The South Shore Chamber has provided office support and professional consultation for the local Chamber for seven years. The relationship has been beneficial to the local Chamber in its effort to promote the local business community but we are now on our own.

The change means that the local Chamber no longer has a telephone number but staff at the South Shore Chamber has said most of the calls to the line were from people from out of town looking for details about housing stock, hotels or similar information.

The continuing development of the website and e-mail availability makes the need for a telephone less necessary. The change means the $95 fee for Chamber membership will not be raised. Dual memberships will no longer be offered.
